Seemingly Like A Diamond
The HTC Diamond also known as HTC P3700 is a symbolic figure of Hi Tech Computer Corporation more popularly known worldwide as HTC. Because this PDA marked the first time a TouchFLO 3D is packed as one of the features. TouchFLO 3D is the screen ability that allows dragging of fingers up, down, left and right to access certain PDA features.
Design
Having a dimensions of 51 (W) x 11 (D) x 102 (H) mm x 108 grams is quite small compared to its competitor – iPhone 3G. The phone is not loaded with buttons, but rather only a few which gives it a rather simple look. Over at the phone edge is where you can find the power key, all in one USB port for charging and headset, and the volume control.
Everything is accessible on the ToucFLO 3D touch screen that makes it really stunning where almost all the functions can be accessed through it. Most of all, it allows easy access due to its horizontal layout of applications contrary to the grid view of most PDAs available. With horizontal interface of applications, it allows easy tapping on the screen for faster selection.
Features
In general, the phone has all the common features of a PDA such as being well connected having compatibility with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, as well as GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900, UMTS 850, UMTS 2100 networks. Apart, it doesn’t leave behind the multimedia side of every PDA as still it built around with a 3.2-mgea-pixel camera plus a front camera for video calling.
Also it is a handy portable media player where it is compatible with Windows Media Player making it capable of supporting MP4, and WMV videos. It also plays a wide range of audio formats such as AAC, AAC+, MP3, and WMA.
The phone has a built-in GPS chips, but having no dedicated mapping software might be a disappointment to others. So as an alternative one may use a web based mapping services. Although this feature was not fully maximized, we are sure in the future version this will improved thoroughly.
Overall Performance
A 528MHz Qualcomm processor powers the phone and a 192MB RAM which makes processing powerful enough to efficiently operate. In terms of browsing, pages loaded quickly when it used an Opera Mobile Web browser making the experience more pleasing. Pages were very clear without the need to magnify several times but simply quo.
The flaw comes in the headphone, as the headphone port on the PDA is non-standard using a mini USB connector. Also, the batteries might need some improvement, where we are sure this will improve next!
