BlackBerry Storm

When the Blackberry first came out, it quickly became known as the business phone. This was primarily due to the fact that a lot of corporate professionals liked the phone because it had the best push email system around that let them keep up to date on their email even while on the go. With that, the Blackberry didn’t really need any other wow factors to make it popular. Then the Apple iPhone came out.

In an effort to replace the former glory of the Blackberry, they’ve released new handsets like the Blackberry Storm. While cooler than previous Blackberry units, it still doesn’t have the Oooh and Aaah factor that the iPhone does. That said, it’s still a nice looking business workhorse, just a little bigger than the Apple iPhone and perhaps with not as cool a touchscreen as the iPhone. Although the Blackberry Storm’s touchscreen does have a tactile feel that the iPhone doesn’t, which makes it somehow more user friendly.

All that aside, the new Blackberry Storm is like any other PDA Mobile Phone – it has its pros and its cons.

Blackberry Storm Pros

  • 480 x 360 pixel display – This display is slightly longer than the Apple iPhone, letting you see more information at a time and making it seem a little less cramped
  • Does everything previous Blackberry units did well – namely, Email.
  • Built in GPS
  • 1GB onboard memory – expandable memory via memory cards – microSD™ cards.

Blackberry Storm Cons

  • No Physical QWERTY Keyboard – While the Blackberry Storm offers two types of touchscreen keyboards depending on what way the unit is facing, the physical QWERTY keyboard is no more.
  • USB Charging – Some people on the Internet have said that the unit is slow to charge via USB only.

Whether you’re a business professional or just someone who digs the new look for the Blackberry, the Blackberry Storm is something you should definitely check out.

We’d love to hear from people who own a Blackberry Storm – if that’s you, leave a comment below!
