Samsung Behold T919 – T-Mobile

The Samsung Behold T919 (see CNET Review), for T-Mobile, is really similar to the Samsung Eternity for the AT&T network. There are some differences, though. Well, besides being on different networks. The differences are slight, though.

Samsung Behold T919 Quick Stats:

  • Provider: T-Mobile
  • Camera: 5 megapixels at 2560 x 1920 resolution
  • Supported Audio Formats:AAC , MP3
  • Supported Video Formats: MPEG-4
  • Display: 240 x 400 pixels- TFT LCD – 18-bit (262000 Colors)
  • Dimensions: 2.1 in x 0.5 in x 4.3 in
  • Weight: 4 oz

The Samsung Behold doesn’t support a lot of multimedia formats, but it does the basics – MP4 and MP3. It would be nice if the phone handled at least a couple other types of digital music, though. Continuing with the negatives, the memory card slot isn’t the easiest to get to and WiFi is … non-existent.

All that aside, the Samsung Behold is a nifty touchscreen entry on the T-Mobile network. The phone has a candy bar style design, that makes it easy to hold and easy to store when you’re on the go. One of the cool things about the touchscreen is the ability to recalibrate the screen if you find that your fingers aren’t clicking right on the screen. If only more phones had this feature!

The phone uses Samsung’s new TouchWiz user interface, which has been reported to be quite easy to use.  The downside of TouchWiz is that you can’t set which widgets appear. This is ok if you’re not a phone gadget geek – but how many of us are? It would have been nice to have a little more customization over such a slick interface.

As most new phones, even the ones with touchscreens, the Samsung Behold includes a full QWERTY keyboard. While on the slightly small side, most people should find it fairly easy to use.

The camera on the phone is one of its strongest features, in my humble opinion. It is 5 megapixels and has a flash and another cool feature not found on a lot of phones – a “self-portrait” mirror next to the camera lense.

While not technically a “smart phone” the Samsung Behold still has a lot of features that people who use “normal phones” might not be used to in a cell phone.
