Motorola Tundra VA76r (AT&T)
The Motorola Tundra VA76r (AT&T) (see CNET Review or Motorola Page) is a new flip phone for the AT&T network with great call quality. With other things, it doesn't do so well - especially multimedia. The phone is made to be rugged, though, so if you're looking for a mobile phone that will stand up to whatever you dish out at it, the Motorola Tundra is a good choice. The sides and controls are coated in rubber, helping it take a fall and keep working. Overall, this is a rugged mobile phone that would be great for a road warrior and/or someone prone to dropping their phone a lot.
Motorola Tundra VA76r Quick Stats:
- Screen: 2.2 in LCD - 320 x 240 pixel resolution 18-bit (262,000 Colors)
- Messaging Features: Text messages , Instant messages , E-mail
- Dimensions: 2.1 in x 0.9 in x 3.9 in
- Weight: 4.9 oz
- Bands: WCDMA (UMTS) / GSM 850/900/1800/1900
- Supported Audio Formats: MP3, AAC, eAAC+, and WMA
- Camera: 2-megapixel
Although it's not a full QWERTY, the keypad on the Motorola Tundra is pretty well put together. On the other hand, the 2 megapixel camera does NOT have a flash. The phone does video, but not great quality video. It's little things like this sometimes that make or break a phone.
The Motorola Tundra has so much going for it in the rugged category, though, that some of the minor things can be overlooked. When it comes down to it, you have to ask yourself what you're looking for in a mobile phone. In the case of the Motorola Tundra, you're going to be sacrificing some "cool features" for durability, but it you're looking for a rugged phone primarily, this won't be a problem.
