The T-Mobile Shadow (see CNET Review) is perhaps a good "dip of the toe in the water" for those making the leap from a normal flip-phone (the wading pool) to a smartphone (the deep end of the pool.) The T-Mobile Shadow isn't on the deep, deep end of the scale, though. It's a good starter phone for those wanting just a little more than their normal mobile phone can give them.

It doesn't have all the great things that a lot of smartphones (PDA Phones) normally have, including access to a 3G network. IF you've never been on the 3G network, though, you might not miss it at all. So again, the T-Mobile Shadow would be a good stepping stone phone to enter the world of more powerful phones. (A mobile phone with training wheels?)

The keypad pulls out from the top of the phone like other models in this series. Pulling out the keyboard, though, is like taking off a layer of clothes and not having anything really impressive underneath. The keypad is usable, but it's not sexy or slick or sleek or ... well anything other than really bland and dull.

The mobile phone does come with Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard Edition installed, which is cool for those wanting to have the latest OS.
