Samsung Messager SCH-R450 (MetroPCS)
The Samsung Messager (SCH-R450) for the MetroPCS network (see CNET Review or the Official Samsung Page) is a great mobile phone with a full slideout QWERTY keyboard. Yes, the Samsung Messager is good for text messaging. Smile. The mobile phone does a lot of other things right too, though. The fact that it's a good phone for messaging on the MetroPCS network is what makes this mobile phone from Samsung so special.
The design of the mobile phone is ok, but nothing to write home about. Same with the keypad and other features. What makes the phone special for the MetroPCS network, though, is the pull out QWERTY keyboard. The keys on it have a great tactile feel and seem strudy, able to handle all the texting you throw at it.
Samsung Messager (SCH-R450) Quick Stats:
- Dimensions: 2" x 0.7" x 4.4"
- Weight: 0.3 lbs
- Camera: 1.3 megapixel
- Screen: 2.1" 262,000 colors and 176x220 pixel resolution
- Memory Card: microSD
The Samsung Messager comes with all the basics - address book (that holds 500 entries), alarm clock, memo pad, etc. The mobile phone also includes some decent multimedia features, like a built-in music player. The onboard 20 MB of memory won't store a lot, but the mobile phone accepts up to 2GB microSD memory cards.
Overall, this is a bad phone for the MetroPCS network, that admitedly has very little selection if you want a phone that's good for text messaging. The Samsung Messager fills the role, though, stepping up where other phone companies haven't.
If you've used the Samsung Messager (SCH-R450), we'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment below and let us know what you think about this mobile phone. It's not the best phone out there, but if you're on the MetroPCS network and like to text, this phone should be on your radar.
