The Samsung Memoir T929 for the T-Mobile network (see CNET Review) is a candybar phone with a touch screen that's sleek and lightweight. It also has a great camera for a mobile phone. The pictures you take with the 8 megapixel camera might surprise you. As with most mobile phones that concentrate on one area and do that one thing well, the Samsung Memoir does have some down sides, though, with less than spectacular performance from the web browser and a few other areas. All in all, it's not a bad choice for a touch screen if you want something other than an iPhone or BlackBerry.

There's no pull-out QWERTY keyboard, although there's a virtual keyboard on the touch screen. While it uses haptic feedback to seem real, it's just not the same as real keys. With a little work it could be a great system, though. In the meantime, it's not that hard to get used to it if you text a lot.

The primary focus of this mobile "phone" is the camera, though, and that's where the Samsung Memoir excels. With 8 megapixels (And a flash), the camera on this phone takes better pictures than a lot of low end dedicated digital cameras.

The phone can access T-Mobile's 3G network, but it doesn't access WiFi, which might be a deal breaker for some people.

Remember the digital camera forged in this mobile phone, though. The pictures it takes (up to a stunning 3,264 x 2,448 pixels resolution) are simply incredible, making this phone worth the money if you love to take pictures. The phone does great 640x480 video as well.
