Boxy is the New Sexy: Kyocera Mako S4000
The Kyocera Mako S4000 for the MetroPCS network (see CNET Review or the official Kyocera Mako S4000 page) is a nice little flip phone for the price. It's not super flashy, but it handles the basics pretty well. It doesn't even attempt some of the newer functions, though, like video or having a touch screen. That said, this mobile phone is a good choice for those on the MetroPCS network.
Kyocera Mako S4000 Quick Stats:
- Dimensions: 3.5" x 0.67" x 1.84"
- Weight: 2.91 ounces
- Screen: 1.8" TFT LCD Screen at 128 x 160 pixel resolution and 262,000 colors
- Messaging: Text messages , Multimedia messages (MMS) , WAP Push
The Mako S4000 is kinda like a Volvo - or an older Volvo. You know, kind of boxy. Like Volvo, though, it's a shape or design that's going to attract a certain type of consumer. Come to think of it, there are other boxy type cars and vehicles available, although their names elude me at the moment - leave a comment if you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, the Mako (May-Co) isn't a design for everyone, but it kinda gives this phone its sense of style, its flavor.
With so many other options available now, the flip phone is sort of retro, you know? Maybe the phone will make a comeback. (On a side note it would be interesting maybe to see a touch screen flip phone. Hmm...)
Overall, it's a decent phone for the MetroPCS network for the price. The design and feature set won't please everyone, but you can't please all the people all of the time. If you're a little different or unique, the Kyocera Mako S4000 just might be for you.
