Although the Samsung Highlight (see CNET review or the un-Official Samsung Highlight Page) won’t wow you with new features or a cutting-edge design, it is a pretty good introduction into the world of touchscreen Mobile Phones. With an easy to use layout and highly customizable display, it’s easy to get the most out of this phone.
The screen quality is definitely a standout feature of this Mobile Phone. Even though it’s a bit small at three inches, it can support 16 million colors which makes for crisp, clear images and text. The added support of the T Mobile 3G network makes for very little delay during web browsing.
Samsung Highlight SGH-T749 Quick Stats:
- Dimensions: 4.3” x 2.1” x .6”
- Weight: 3.7 oz.
- Screen: 240 x 400 TFT with 16.2 million colors
- Camera: 3 MP
- Supported Audio Formats: AAC , MP3 , WMA
The camera is another great feature on this Mobile Phone. What it lacks in not having a flash, it more than gains back in picture quality (that you can change) and lots of customizable photo settings. The camcorder also has several options to get the recording as personalized as you like. A music player with a straightforward menu is also included.
One thing to note is a rather low volume when listening to the phone – while the people you call can hear you just fine, it can sometimes be difficult for you to hear them. This problem becomes even more noticeable when using the speaker phone or trying to listen to music without headphones.
Basically, if you’re a tried and true touchscreen convert, this Mobile Phone is probably not for you. If you want to try something new and not spend a huge amount of money to do it, the Highlight might be a great option.
