Pharos Traveler GPS 127 Is Smart Like A Slug
It’s undeniable that this has become the age of the smartphone, and every company has tried to put their own spin on this new trend. Enter the Pharos Traveler GPS 127, which offers standard smartphone apps and features like a QWERTY keyboard, a responsive touchscreen, and the use of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition. On top of this, it offers Smart Navigator software which allows you to access use of a GPS system without a monthly subscription – all the maps are located on a micro SD card.
Once you get the hang of using this software, it’s quite impressive. Beyond having maps and directions at your fingertips, you can also access some unique options like a trip recorder, a point of interest feature, and even things like an up to date traffic and weather report for your location. Unfortunately, these significant pros are matched if not outweighed by equally notable cons.
Pharos Traveler GPS 127 Quick Stats:
- Dimensions: 4.5 “ x 2.4 “ x .6’
- Weight: 5.1 oz
- Resolution: 320 x 240 pixels
- Camera: 2 MP
The Smart Navigator software, designed to be the selling feature of this phone, is difficult to use and unnecessarily confusing. While one could eventually adjust to its quirks, a user manual would make it easier – something that’s not included with the mobile phone. What’s more, the performance of this and most other applications was almost painfully slow.
This mobile phone just can’t switch easily from one action to another, often timing out or stalling for long enough to have me worried. While it does get you where you need to go, it seems like there must be a more reliable alternative on the market. Leave a comment below and weigh in: is the Pharos Traveler smart enough to outweigh sluggish performance?
