If you’ve been dreaming about a mobile phone that looks like it came straight out of a high tech scifi movie, then the LG Crystal GD900 is straight out of your dreams. Unfortunately, if you want a phone that actually works, you should probably steer clear. While the stunning clear glass and plastic design with cool blue lights looks amazing, its actual function leaves a lot to be desired.

The smooth, clear keypad does double duty as a touch sensitive controller, theoretically allowing you to control the functions of your phone without obscuring the screen with your finger. Realistically, the presence of too many touch sensitive surfaces just ends up creating a mess of unintended actions – one swipe of your finger may be able to access your texts, but it will probably open your contacts or call someone unintentionally, too.

This regrettable trend of promise unfulfilled continues in the phone’s camera. With 8 MP, this camera should be able to take some stunning pictures. Instead, you’re lucky to even get a fair one. With poor colors, often fuzzy backgrounds, and sometimes even pink tints to the pictures, it’s no wonder why LG bothered to include so many photo editing options on this mobile phone – you need to use them to get any kind of decent picture. While a camera on a mobile phone is certainly never a deal breaker, it’s just another example of a feature that should have been amazing and yet, falls strangely short.
